1 27 May Introduction to Health Psychology [Chap. 1] Visit APS website
  • Read the lecture notes (see above attachment).
  • Read Chapter 1 of the text and note the Learning Objectives at the start of the chapter relating to this week’s lesson.
  • Read the handout for Assessment 1: Reading Log. It can be found on the website under the Assessment tab.
  • Read the Learning Relationship (pdf format)
  • Visit the APS website to learn about the specialist area of Health Psychology – the link to the APS website is here:http://www.psychology.org.au/publications/inpsych/2010/june/lindner/ – contribute your findings to the relevant Discussion Board forum.
  • The first Online Test begins next week.
2 3 June Health inequalities [Chap. 2] Find data on a specific health inequality in Australia OLT 1
  • Read the lecture (see above attachment), and
  • Read Chapter 2 of the text and note the Learning Objectives at the start of the chapter relating to this week’s lesson.
  • Find data on a specific health inequality in Australia and contribute your findings to the relevant Discussion Board forum. Try the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. The link to the AIHW website is from here: http://www.aihw.gov.au/
  • Complete the first online test – OLT1. You will find this test through the Online Tests tab.
3 10 June Health-related behaviours [Chap. 3, 4] Find a measure of health risk behaviour
  • Read the lecture (see above attachment), and
  • Read Chapters 3 and 4 of the text and note the Learning Objectives at the start of the chapter relating to this week’s lesson.
  • Find a measure of health-risk behaviours that has validity. Contribute your findings to the relevant Discussion Board forum.
  • There is no Online Test this week.
4 17 June Predicting health behaviour [Chap. 5] Library tutorial Reading Log & OLT 2
  • Read the lecture (see above attachment), and
  • Read Chapter 5 of the text and note the Learning Objectives at the start of the chapter relating to this week’s lesson.
  • Assessment 1: Read and log a journal article (in your group’s Blog) as listed in the Reading Log selection from Weeks 1 to 4 or find one of your own to review.
  • Read the handout for Assessmentt 3: Health Improvement Essay. This handout can be found under the Assessment tab.
  • Complete the library tutorial and find an article related to Health Improvement. Contribute your findings to the relevant Discussion Board forum.
  • Complete the second Online Test – OLT2.
5 24 June Stress, health; illness [Chap. 11] Rate your stress levels
  • Read the lecture (see attachment above), and
  • Read Chapter 11 of the text and note the Learning Objectives at the start of the chapter relating to this week’s lesson.
  • Rate yourself on the Stress scale of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale by Lovibond and Lovibond (1995). Contribute your findings to the relevant Discussion Board forum.
  • Work on Assessment 3: Health Improvement essay.
  • There is no online test this week.
6 1 July Reducing risk of disease [Chap. 6] Plagiarism man Reading Log & OLT 3
